Beavers Loop
Beavers Loop is one of the rare spots to fish for Silver Salmon from the bank. Best fishing will be on the outgoing tide. Because of the strong drift and the muddy bottom, use 5-8 oz. pyramid sinkers, cured salmon eggs as bait and a piece of cork 10 inch in front of the hook to keep the bait slightly over ground.

Soldotna public-access river bank
In the 3-month Red Salmon run, over 1 million Sockeyes enter the Kenai River. Due to the outside loop of the river bend, you will find a typical Sockeye path, just 6 feet of the bank. This means 7 Red Salmon per second pass this spot. This bank is not a secret and you have to get up very early to find a place.

Soldotna Bed&Breakfast Lodge, private bank
You will find the same contallation on the private river bank of the Soldotna B&B Lodge. Guests of the lodge are permitted to fish on the 300 feet private shore, which means relaxed Sockeye fishing with max. 3-4 other guests.
The Alaska-Fishing-Charter is located directly by the lodge, having some of the most experienced fishing guides under contract. The lodge is the perfect place to stay for your Alaska vacation and to explore the Kenai Peninsula.

Cooper Landing
Cooper Landing was named for Joseph Cooper, a miner who discovered gold here in 1884.The business community has several restaurants and lodging places, bars, grocery store and shops selling jewelry, gifts and souvenirs. Gas, auto repair and towing are available. In the winter not all businesses are open. In summer it is crowded with anglers going for Reds.
I had to get up at 4 am to find a free spot for fisching. :(

Russian River RV Park
No doubt the term sends chills down the spines of all those anglers who have experienced this phenomena. Unfortunately popular fisheries anywhere in the States which are easily accessible and produce lots of fish tend to draw crowds. And in Alaska, the Russian River sockeye fishery holds the dubious distinction of being the first stream in the state to coin the phrase:
"Bring Your Own Rock To Stand On!"

Hidden Creek Trail
The hidden Creek trail lead down from Skilak road to the mouth of the Kenai on Skilak lake. This trail can be done in one hour. Once down there you will find a perfect spot for Sockeye fishing in a beautiful panoramic scene.
Ok, I had to carry 40lbs of Red Salmon back to the car ;)
